Rock Solid

I leave so soon. It's crazy. Where did the time go?

I'm back to my usual work ethic: procrastination always gets the job done.

Three more assignments stand in the way of me finishing the semster:
-Tourism paper due Friday (1500 words)
-Literature paper due... before the semester ends?? (2500 words)
-History paper due May 7th (as long as it only takes an hours to write & email)

I could be seeing Dance Gavin Dance tonight, but I'm choosing not to go since I think I'm going to see them at Bottom of the Hill May 27th. So no big deal?
Parenthood is a really great show, by the way. haha The only television I do watch here, seems to be that show, Dexter, and South Park. awesome.

anyways,
I hope to finish the Tourism paper by dinner, so I'll get to it.

I miss you,

-kb2.

PS. check out my tumblr for pictures and other things in-the-moment related. haha YDG?!

Ow, don't hit me :(

Over a month?! Now this is madness.

Thoroughly sorry, but alas, I have returned!

I only wish there was nothing to tell you, but there's just so much :)

Hmm, I guess I should have looked at what I wrote last because now I can't remember where I left off.

Well, if I last wrote over a month ago, I think I was still going to school/not going to school/sleeping all day/awake all night-ing.
Then Alex came! Anddd, we were touristy! Did the whole Parliament Square walk-through, took lots of pictures. We went to the zoo & I lovedd all the monkeys. :) We also went to Tate Modern, and that was really cool except that some of the floors will closed off because of legal issues??
And yeah, it was really refreshing to see a familiar face and to have a big part of home come to me. :) Thanks Arex.

Then I left for Spring Break!
We left the 30th of March for Prague. It was only Colleen and me because Karley and Emily had already left for their excursions. We left soo early in the morning, it was crazy to see all the working class commuters on the bus haha.

Prague:
-beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

-cute hostel with free computer & internet
-mac n cheese

-mosaic ceilings in the basilica de san marco
-walking, walking, walking
-lame bus ride
-lame flight back to london
-lame bus back to school

:) :) :) Basically, Spring Break 2010 was a success considering we were winging most of it as we went along. haha

The day after I got back, I went to see Circa Survive in Camden at the Flowerpot. Arex so awesomely won tickets to see them, and yeah. Anyone who has heard me talk about this concert knows that it was the_best_show_I've_ever_been_to. The end.
Ask me about ;)

Then, the next day, Ms. Jenny Ragusa Ryan, conveniently, came into London on a business trip & I got to be tour guide yet again! haha so now, I've done the Parliament walk-through 5 times :)
1. the first tour we went on when we arrived
2. fieldwork day for my tourism class
3. father
4. arex
5. jenny
I should do this professionally.

Sigh, been all the go ever since! School has started this week and I'm actually going haha!
I sign up for Fall 2010 classes after I get from Amsterdam, which I leave for on Friday! yay! I love life right now, honestly. And honestly, I miss a lot of my life also.
I love that I am seeing bits and pieces of the world. I feel motivated to travel around the States, since when you think about it, those are just as close to me as the other countries I've been to here. There's just no time and not enough of it! haha.

Well, I leave you with that. Sorry this was kind of a sad excuse for an update, but at least I got out the outline of what I've been up to in case I forget.

Miss you!!
I'll be home soon, worry not.

xoxo

Do you like bass?

Do you, do you like bass?

Hey!
I actually haven't disappeared :)

I started this up.

This isn't to replace my blawg, psh no. It's just faster at posting things I like. YDG?! aha
Lemme know if you understand it's theme too.

So yes, school kinda piled up out of nowhere as it usually does. But now it's died down.
Other than school, I've been listening to music. A ton of music.
Portugal. the Man. mainly. Get on that. I dig, I digg.
Gaga this Friday, I'm thoroughly excited.
Then Flying Lotus & TOKiMonsta.
Then Dublin.

It's March, friends, and March is gonna be inZane. :)

I miss you, as always.
May will come fast, I knoez it.

While I write my paper...

2 and a half hours left until my paper is due. 2 more paragraphs.

Tera Melos is helping me crank it out.

as well as this:

PS. I've missed you dearly.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Dear boy, what do you rap about?

Why hello,
I know, I fell off the face of the planet. Sorry. Luckily, I was able to grab hold of some sanity and make it back to where I am now--currently in my room waiting for my laundry to finish.
I'm drained beyond belief.
Last weekend my dad came! Totally completely surprised me :) It was a ton of fun. We have a ton of fun. Did a bunch of touristy things and ate some average food. haha good times. So when are you gonna come visit me?
Monday we went to Oceana again. Oh goodness was I a hot mess. Sorry to those who had to see me that night. Ugh. Summary: Southern Comfort, Snapple, GaGa, Smirnoff, Vomit, Water, Dancing, Falling, laughing. Yup. I looked really cute though :)

Today, my lack of sleep has finally caught up with me. And so has all of my school work. haha, oh yeah, I'm here for school.... wah wah. Gots to get a move on! and I will.
Thinking I'm gonna start video blogging, so I gotta figure out how to edit the clips I've taken and then I'll upload them somewhere. Maybe Flickr because then I can look at the Starfuckers Friend video again. tehe, I ruv that doggie!

Anywhoozle, (totally from PDS, but whatev because it's something I'd actually say.....lolz.)
Gonna go put my laundry in the dryer. Then I'll put pictures up from my dad's visit. THEN, look in to doing my videos. And yeah, dinner, then sleep. please.

Friday, February 12, 2010

Lazy.

It's 5pm, and I just took a shower, which means I just got out of bed.

Off to a great start :) for serious! haha

After dinner I'mma go to the bank to get some laundry money. Ugh laundry. Mommy where are you? Maybe some ice cream since I just found a place over yonder. Nothing like Three Twins I'm sure. nom.

I'm still hackin' up a storm, no bueno.
Thirsty for some root beer, omgz r00t b33r how I miss thee. lawl.

Listening to These Arms Are Snakes. Man, I miss them too. rip.

Sorry I'm boring, lemme try to link you something cool.

oh! okay this. this is straight up last night in a nut shell. nutz!!

Thursday, February 11, 2010

So here we are again at the start,

let's get stuck.

TTNG. Friggin' stoked. February 24th. :D

That's is all.

-kb2.

(hmmm, my blawg turning into my twittererrr??) no bueno.

I should report something. lol 'report.' uhm. okay for Valentines Day. Thinkin' I miiiight swing by 14 Bike Co's anniversary party?? Not sure if I'm worthy enough. And it'd be a lil awk if I go by myself. Hi, Tom La Marche, you don't know me but, hey I'm an American too. John Prorry??
But seriously, how awesome would that be? Maybe only Arex would think it'd be tight. Boy, you need to get here faster so we can actually do cool stuff I like slash know about. It's getting to me that I keep doing things that no one here has any idea about. For instance, Alexander McQueen. Couldn't think of a single person who knew who he was besides Johnny. sigh, I ruv fashion, but people here, or at my school at least are too religious to care. Or I'm not religious enough? I'm just a snobby materialistic girl who should have been raised in the Upper East Side? yadamnstraightiam.

In other things to report. There's drama. I guess no matter where you go, it'll sprout up sometime. lol sprout. All I have to say is that I don't do well with naive people. I'm the wrong person for introducing the world. I take back what I said before, it must suck to be them.

Bummed I'm not seeing Avenue Q tonight in the city with the girls, but I really don't have the money with all the shows I plan on seeing. Sure tickets are only 22 pounds, but my inner alcoholic is also getting into a boo mood. aha drinks ain't cheap.

Tried Southern Comfort for the first time last night. yucky. or whatever they mixed it with was yucky. cheap though, so I won't complain.

kay, over and out. for real.

-kb2.

What is happening...

RIP ALEXANDER MCQUEEN.
may your brilliance live on. ohp here it comes, depression.

I took a nap all day today after my lit class. Now I have a legitimate reason for doing so.
:)

In the world of decisions, there are still many to be made, so please get back at me so I can get on with my life.

Oh yeah, last night was nuts.
Gaga, drama, SoCo, Mardi Gras, Snow Pieces, dirty people, and lots of laughter.
Great night, weird morning.

Sigh, I have no life. It must suck to be me.

-kb2.
still miss you.

I hate them.

Make them for me.

I hope you have a great day.

I feel like I'm in a snow globe,

stop shaking it.

No seriously.

I guess as of yesterday, I've officially seen snow in it's verb form.
And, no me gusta. Sorry nature nerds. It made me dizzy and I felt like the air was diseased. I like it better on the ground already. :) aha

Today I went on a field trip! Or actually, I did 'Fieldwork.' Here in London they only use single quotes. Yes. It was for my class, London as a Tourist Destination. And no, we do not learn how to become tour guides--they made that clear on the first day and still do. lol
In this class, we learn why people are attracted to tourist 'spaces' and what makes a place a 'space.' etc. eh tih kuh.
So we started off at Strawberry Hill rail station bright and early at 9.30am (omg.) then headed to London Waterloo via Richmond. (tehe, I love saying Wuh-tuh-looo veye-uh Richmond)
From there, we did the usual, London Eye-Parliament-White Hall-Westminster Abbey-eh tih kuh.
Then! We took the tube to Temple, lol Da Vinci Code. Then we broke off for lunch and me and another American ate some cheap food and hopped onto a random bus and thawed out. It was nice until we were trying to make it back to the meeting point and literally ran up the end of the group as they were walking away. Seamless! ...until Peter, my professor saw us and wondered when we had gotten there because the other professor was waiting for us. oops.
We then walked to St. Paul's Cathedral via Fleet Street. ruv Sweeny Todd!
Talked about why people visit churches such as that one. And I got reamed by Peter for saying that churches and religious places are 'sacred.' He asked me if I was religious, and I said 'I can be.' Apparently he hadn't ever encountered such a statement, so I went on about being spiritual without being religious and he had no eye-friggin-dea. So he hassled me about that the rest of the day and I bet next week in class he'll talk about it again. But whatevs, I'm from liberal San Frantic and my mommy is a spiritual healer. Bring it!
Then, we went to the Museum of London. Kid-friendly central slash model-home take you into history...ness. It was rad. I dug it. And it was free, no complaints.
Then we went home and I passed out listening to Minus the Bear. Thweetness.

..anddd right now I'm talking to Kyle Matthew Thibault! :)
so brb.

kay back, the next day.

Good Morning! err, Afternoon, it's almost 3pm, and AGAIN! I slept through my class. UGH.
In my defence, had I woken up on time, I wouldn't have gone anyway because I feel poopy. My throat is killing me. And, since Philosophy is my favorite class to talk in, it would be counter-productive to go and not be able to speak. :) yay sugar coating my lazyness.
Over it.
So last night, after my long and very enjoyable conversation with Kyle Thibault, I read my book for a little (see! I'm being a good student!) then bugged Tim Barry able life for a long time. I came back to my room, passed out, then woke up and went online. Oh goodness, see friends, that's the real reason I didn't make it to class--I'm an insomniac! aha, or, I'm still stuck in US time, the more plausible explanation. Right now, it's almost 7am in the US and I'd be waking up. So there you have it, the solution to my problem is that I need to get on UK time.

For now, I'll read more of my book for tomorrow, my lit class that I WILL make it to.
I'm satisfied with my lazyness that at leas I'm missing different classes each week, right? right.

Here are pictures from yesterday's excursion:

REWIND: Super Bowl in the Chaplaincy. Fun, awkward, and sleepy. SAINTS!
Trafalgar Square. See, I take notes. It was a very pretty day, but oh so cold.
Peter, my favorite teacher here at St. Mary's.
America?
Horsies! At Whitehall.
Watch them rape that car. This is Downing Street.
Arex, look at his gun. so gnar.
tehe Asians.
Pretty.
aha Peter was disappointed to have to lecture to us by Winston.
Ben.
St. Paul's Cathedral.
need I say more?
'London Before London' --they were river people.
See, they 'take' you there at the Museum of London.
Ugh, even looking at this makes me hungry.

Another gun for Arex.
I was diggin the lighting.

And there ya have it!

See ya next time,

missyou.

angry face

What up.

I have no voice. It's kind of our of control and getting ridiculous. Lots of kids on my floor are getting sick also, but come on. I blame Tim. :) aha, or someone else.

But yeah, my voice is past the point of raspy/semi-hawt, and now it's just lame.

In other news, I'm going to see LADY GAGA in March. Awesome.
And tomorrow i'm going to see The Black Dahlia Murder and some other siqq metal bands at the University of London Union at Bone Crusher Fest! yee.

(EDIT) This entry was left unfinished.

So, since then, the concert was SO GOOD! minus the fact that the crazy British kids were crazy-insane stage divers and eventually broke the sound system! They ended the show early and I was stupid mad, but the night ended on a great note, full of double vodka cranberries and a pretty decent cover band. haha awesome.

Lately, my sleep schedule has been all out of wack. seriously. I sleep at like 5am here, and wake up at 2pm. Am I still in the US?! I really think, though, that it's because of my window shades. Those effers make my room SO DARK that when I wake up in the middle of the night, it's honestly dark, so of course I'm gonna think it's still night, right? Right.

Haha, I just noticed that the title of this entry was "angry face." I'll tell you why...
firealarms, firealarms, friggin firealarms!!!
It was insanity. I kid you not, (wow I promise I'm going to stop saying that) these kids pull them because they think they're funny. 4am?! not funny, yo. But yeah, it was becoming a weekly thing. Hasn't happened since Thursday? Friday? So we'll see what happens tonight, Monday, one of the biggest party days here. Oh joy!

Anywho, I miss everyone at home like crazy, and people like Chrystofer Ong aren't helping my cause by digging up old old old videos/pictures for me to cry my eyes out to. aha, but seriously though, stawp.

Kay, homework and reading and everything studious awaits me.
:)

-kb2.

PS. still no voice. i'mma die.

kay these are in reverse order, my bad. thorry.

circle pit.
make it biggerrrr.
this is 3 inches of blood from canada. i was diggin it.

Me and Shannon, drummer of The Black Dahlia Murder. :) Yay America!

I have never

been carded so hardcore as I was last night. The bartender even turned on the black light so he could check my ID. Then, after I already had two drinks, the dyke bouncer came up to me, "Have you got an ID on you?" Ugh, then checked it again along with my school ID.

Laaaame.

I'll further update later.

I miss you, yeah you.

-kb2.

EDIT: then, last night (30 Jan), I went around Old School and wasn't carded ONCE! they were carding people left and right. make up your mind london...

http://native.bandcamp.com

(First thing's first. go here.)

Dear you,

It's come to my attention that I'm just as lazy here in London, as I am in the states.
Yes, I'm in another country. But I also now LIVE in another country. So I guess this is home to me now, and as accustomed, I've had another 3 hour mid-day nap.

woot.

LAZY is right hahaha.

The goal today was supposed to be to do homework. More specifically, I was supposed to catch up on reading. Since I have to read a whole novel by Thursday, I calculated 40 pages a day since I got the assignment last Thursday. Unfortunately, or I guess Naturally, I haven't started. I've read a page or two here and there if I happen to glance at the book so cleverly put across the room far away from me. Instead, I did what any college student would do: I read wikipedia and Sparknotes. Holla! The tutors here know that the exchange students don't "graduate" in the subjects they're taking, so it wouldn't surprise them that I, a psychology student, doesn't fancy post-modern English literature. Especially a 300-page book in 7 days. From my point of view, can one even appreciate such a "work" in that amount of time?? :D tehe, I suck.

I guess I'll just have to see how long the other books are. Apparently the rest are shorter.
The update here, friends, is that Kiersten is the same! haha I seriously need some good marks though, because this is the semester that, in theory, should raise my whole gpa. So party hard, but study harder?? vice versa? nah, I'm here because I'm paying to be. See, I still have the right frame of mind, but my study habits are still in a poor state.

At least I'm well-rested :) I eat breakfast daily and dinner at a decent hour. Much healthier than when I was in the States.

Still miss all of you dearly,

-kb2.

Saturday, January 23, 2010

It's true, you can never have too much tea here.

Ello!

I know, I've been MIA way too much for me to be so far away.
..and it's not like I don't have the time to update either. It's 2:30am, and what am I doing?? I mean honestly. So, smack me for my negligence because I suck. :P

haha anyways, what have I been up to?!

I guess, simply put, I've become a professional pub critic. aka I've been in all the pubs. ah yes, the true inner alcoholic in me has finally found its niche in Luhnduhnn. lol
But I'm sad to say that it's kinda the truth. I can't say I've been a tourist. Tower of London? Nope. Stonehenge? Nope.
See? Let's not forget though, that I've had school this week. Granted I only have school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays.... butttt, I promise you, stuff's not cheap, man!

Hmm... lately I've been having these crazy, crazy dreams. There was one where I decided to fly home for the weekend because I felt like it. EVERYONE was there! I also had a dream where my cousin Mary visited with all of her kids, but I guess she had more than her 5?.. she had like 8. and they all ran to me to give me a hug and I said, "wow there really are 8 of you." crazy.
and today, when I napped, I had a dream about me following clues to figure what had happened or something. Then a magician was having a show and I was trying to crawl out of the theater when he frisbee-ed a picture into the air, and I covered my head with my hands and the picture landed into my hand. Confusing, I know. But it was nuts!
So, I'm wondering how long these dreams will last for. I'm gonna have to start writing them down.

Let's talk school:

Monday, I sat in on a Civil Wars class in hopes to not actually like it :) I need a general history class back at USF and want to fulfill the requirement here. My options were this class and another. Thank goodness I didn't like this one. First, because it's a 200 level class. Here, first years take all 100 level classes, second years 200, etc. Also, in London, no one takes general ed. This means that the people in my history class are majoring, err, graduating (apparently 'majoring' doesn't exist here because I was already correct once before) in history. So, everyone in my class knows history which meant that that class was hard. And by hard, I mean that class covers every civil war from 1500-2000. Yikes. aaaanddd, the professor was too feminine for my liking... especially for a dude.

Tuesday, I was planning on taking 'London as a Tourist Destination' in which we'd learn about why people come to London. Sweet deal, except for the fact that I slept through it and didn't even make it. oops. But, I emailed the 'tutor' aka professor/teacher/deal and he was okay with me coming next week. lol. Then I had the history class I am now registered for: 20th Century Britain. Yay, a 100 level course where we learn about what Bristish culture is aka the Spice Girls. I kid you not, we spend a whole week on them :) Yay Posh Spice. aha

Wednesday, I took Moral Philosophy. This tutor is whack. This class has that one student whom you want to kill every day. Yenno that student?? Yeah. Wednesday are not my favorite other than the fact that I get out at noon those days.

Thursday - 20th Century Literature. If there is one class that will be the death of me, it's this one. We read an ENTIRE book a week. Okay yeah yeah, whatever, that's not a lot. But, hi, I'm Kiersten and I don't read :) It's hard enough having to keep up with Alex's blog at the rate he updates that thing tehe :P But yeah, at this point, I was really considering saving literature for USF, but does USF class only meet once a week? Nope. Does USF end their semester one week after Spring Break like St. Mary's does? Nope. SOO, I kinda concluded that I have it realllllyyyy well here :) WELL. YES. PROPER ENGLISH.

and Friday, yesterday, I reached a new alcoholic limit: a pint and a half of Magner's, a pint of Strongbow (my favorite thus far), a vodka cranberry, a shot of American Flag, a shot of Irish Flag, and a shot of Slippery Nipple. wow, that sounds a lot worse than it was. This was all consumed starting like 8pm-11pm, at 3 different pubs in the city. and the night ended with me passing out. per usual. I safe though, so no worries :)

Today I watched the movie Brothers. How depressing. Weird acting from Toby. Jake's cuter. Natalie Portman looks weird with blonde hair. The plot and scenes were as choppy and random as those last sentences. An hour and half in to the movie, I had already thought that this was the longest movie I had ever seen. I also cried a lot because it was sad. But as far as depicting war-life, I'd still stick to The Hurtlocker.

Alright then, almost 3am and the English kids in the dorms are still drunk and loud as usual. We had our weekly fire alarm... apparently it's funny to pull it???

Other than that, I play Super Mario on my DSi and get really frustrated when I die a bunch. I'm at the second world now :) yay.

Kay, picture time!

we met these 18 year olds who ordered one of every specialty shot on the menu. many of them were gay, and many of them were deerunk.

the American Flag. apparently they were out of the "white" for the flag so they made it French? lol I can't believe I drank that. It was warm too.

the Slipper Nipple. Baileys on top of what tasted like licorice.

the Irish Flag. It had Baileys on top of green, mint flavored liquor. tasted like a thin mint :)

Slippery Nipples all around. and that was it for the night aha.

a dessert the US is totally missing out on. nomm I get to eat it everyday! (I know I know, nacho cheese?!?! but it's NOT! it's custard. warm and melted and deelicious! totally missing out)

TEENY theater. They have you pick your seats when you buy tickets. Almost every movie gets sold out.

and goodnight,

If you're reading this then I probably miss you tons!!

Across the Pond.

Greetings for Twickenham, London!! (Twih-kin-ehm)

Sorry for the late update, but hey I've only been here for two days and the uni's got me a lame orientation schedule. wah wah

haha I can already tell you'll notice that I've picked up all of the slang/jargon words for lots of stuff here, so it should be fun to reread this one once back in the states.

anyways, let's start from the top:

My family dropped me off at SFO and waited for me until i absolutely had to pass security. Apparently there was a deal on flight from SFO to Vegas and there was a disco-ish theme. I say ish because people were dressed in banana suits, roller skates, everything that would make an airport security hate their lives haha. But literally everyone on that flight was decked out. I bet they had an interesting couple of days...

Alex too!

So, after I parted with my family, I was all sad waiting at the terminal, slowly realizing I was all by my lonesome.

Fortunately, once settled into the air, I had these to open and look forward to.

!!!

The meal on the plane was actually really good. It was a ground beef kinda thing with mashed potatoes and veggies. They called it "Cottage Pie." There was also a pasta salad with peas in it, which I thought was a little different than I was used to. Look at my wine :) It tasted eh though. lol pink silverware, that was actually really sturdy and the knife cut through the bread.

gahh, this cake was soo good and soo small! the top was a chocolate mouse and the bottom was so light and moist. nomm.

I'd say you could probably do without trying this water.

I guess my first real cup of tea :) plastic cup.

milk. yeah it was exactly as weird as you're thinking.

Breakfast :) either I was super hungry, or that Jimmy Dean egg & cheese bagel was good! haha

Soo... the flight itself? Yeah I was sitting next to an English family. I was in the center group of seat on the aisle and next to me was this 8 or 10 year old girl with scraggly hair and a bunny. Apparently she had gotten a new ring that was soooo pretty that when the airplane went dark for people to sleep she was the ONLY person to have their light still on so she could admire it. I kid you not, friends. The entire 10 hours in the air, I had the bright reading light shining down on me. :(
In addition to the fact that my plane was already delayed, I was on a time limit to make the shuttle provided by my school back to campus. I arrived in London Heathrow at 12:30pm and the shuttle was scheduled to leave at 1pm. To my luck, once I ran out of the plane to immigrations (which was seriously a mile away.. Heathrow is HUGE), I was welcomed with a fatty line :( And, once I got to the counter, the guy talked to me for everrr asking about EVERY plan I had in London and that I had no intention of staying. Ugh, and I though having a legit Visa would be proof enough that I was supposed to be there. Guess not.
Upon arriving at baggage claim, I was greeted with the announcement that there was a problem getting the luggage off of the plane and that they didn't know when they would be about to get it.
So, I ran out to the exit to try and catch the rep from my school to tell them my situation. After looking through a sea of taxi signs, I finally found my school rep. She wasn't very optimistic in the idea that I would be able to make the shuttle, but since there was only ONE other student present, she agreed to wait. THEN, what I had to do was go ALL THE WAY BACK THROUGH SECURITY. shoes off, laptop out, the whole bit, all the while I was wearing a big jacket since it was snowing. Man, I was sweating!
Of course, once I made it all the back to baggage claim, huzzah! Luggage! I met up with my the other student and the rep and waited outside in the cold for 45mins for the shuttle to get there.
London definitely wasn't welcoming me nicely :(

But, once I make it to my room, I was able to breathe and the day unfolded less-stressed. Here's my room:

Kinda like a dorm/hotel? It's fine I guess. Definitely a good size.

It's 3:30am, and I usually go to sleep now. So, I'll finish up later with stories and more pictures.

So goodnight until next time,

I miss you.

Cheers!!

PS. I'm the only Asian (so far) on campus.
